About Us
The idea for Indianapolis Senior Living came to Paul and Kathy several years ago as they were searching for a meaningful business they could enjoy running together. As they examined their individual skills and experience, the idea for a residential community for the elderly began to take shape.
Meet Kathy
Kathy has spent most of her professional career working with program planning for senior citizen organizations. She found she really enjoys this age group as she built her experience with all different environments of senior living. She has worked in neighborhood centers, skilled nursing home, assisted and independent living communities. She also has experience with community organization in neighborhoods and churches.
Meet Paul
Paul has a business background, primarily with management in non-profit organizations. He also teaches lean manufacturing and office seminars across Indiana. His special interest has been improving business operations and successfully starting and growing businesses. On the side he has done taxes and is credentialed as an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. These varied job experiences prepared Paul for the challenge of beginning a business, that was to many people, a new idea.
Paul and Kathy firmly believe that God blesses people with the gift of friendship and community. In her experience, Kathy had witnessed, that all too often the elderly become isolated and lonely, preventing them from feeling the personal satisfaction that comes from feeling useful. She also witnessed that not all our elderly flourish in a large senior community. Some are much more comfortable, and therefore more productive, in an small intimate setting. As the idea for Indianapolis Senior Living took hold, it seemed at times, to be an excruciatingly slow process. It always, however, kept moving forward. Paul and Kathy believed the Lord was blessing the project and encouraging them by continually sending talented people to help them reach their goal. As Paul and Kathy begin construction they are looking forward to the next step in this project, which is, meeting the people who will be part of this unique community. Paul and Kathy received their college degrees from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Paul went on to earn a MBA from St. Thomas University specializing in healthcare management and Kathy earned a Certificate in Gerontology from Ball State University. Together they have raised three children and have four grandchildren.
